WELCOME

A MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL

It is my pleasure to introduce the St. John’s International School website to you, which I hope conveys some of the spirit of this amazing school.

It is a school which inspires confidence and has a great future ahead; our staff are skilled, inspirational specialists in their fields, we have the highest of educational expectations embedded in International Baccalaureate (IB) principles, we have the outstanding reputation for pastoral care, we have a superb range of extra-curricular activities to extend and challenge our students.

All of this is underpinned by the expertise and support of the Inspired international network of schools. All in all, it is a unique package: a forward-thinking and globally-connected school situated in the very heart of Europe.

Inevitably, a website can only provide a snapshot of a school; please do come for a visit to meet some of our students and staff, so that you can see and feel for yourself the spirit of a St. John’s education.

I look forward to meeting you in person. Please follow my blog and Twitter account to read about life at St. John's.

Elaine Purves, Head of School

“We seek to inspire, challenge and prepare students within the framework of a nurturing, caring ‘family’ environment."

GUIDING STATEMENTS

St. John’s is regarded by many as one of the best international schools in Europe. In order to provide the school with a platform to develop in a coherent manner, we have drawn up clear guiding statements supported by a vision, mission and values, which we believe positively differentiates us from other international schools.

Our vision

Learning that empowers, perspectives that inspire, a community that cares and excels.

Our mission

Our international education is student-centred and holistic, encouraging personal excellence in Academics, Arts and Sports. We celebrate diversity and instil in our students the open-mindedness to think globally. We promote individual responsibility for life-long learning, service and achievement.

Our values

Companionship - the gentleness to befriend and strength to accompany
Integrity - being true to ourselves, to each other, and to our world
Respect - the appreciation of diversity amongst peoples, languages, cultures and beliefs.

HISTORY

“Our past is as important as our future."

For more than 50 years, St. John’s has been serving the expatriate and local communities of the greater Brussels area. We are proud of the impact that we have had on generations of students. The school was founded in 1964 by the Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJ), and throughout the years has built its reputation for excellence on a foundation of exceptional academic programmes as well as athletics and the visual and performing arts.
