About St. John's
A very, very warm welcome to the St. John’s International School website and thank you for your interest! We are delighted to share with you our vision of how St. John’s students live our values to impact the world. We are very much an inclusive school, open to children of all nationalities, faiths and cultures.
St. John’s is a wonderfully unique educational institution which combines the traditional Christian values of companionship, integrity and respect with the rigours of a 21st century international education.
We seek to inspire, challenge and prepare students within the framework of a nurturing, caring ‘family’ environment.
For more than 50 years, St. John’s has been serving the expatriate and local communities of the greater Brussels area. We are proud of the impact that we have had on generations of students. The school was founded in 1964 by the Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJ), and throughout the years has built its reputation for excellence on a foundation of exceptional academic programs as well as athletics and the visual and performing arts.
Some 700 students from 55 countries attend St. John’s in our Pre-K through grade 12 structure. More than 90% of our graduates take and pass the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma exams with excellent results. Based on the tradition of excellent IB Diploma results and exceptional college placements, it is evident that St. John’s graduates are well-placed to live our vision of impacting our world.
Co-curricular programs are a vital part of the St. John’s educational experience. Our arts and athletics activities are consistently regarded among the finest in Europe. All St. John's students have the opportunity to develop their creative abilities in the art studio as well as in our superb Performing Arts Center, which includes a 400-seat theatre and reception area, dance studio, choir, orchestra, music and practice rooms. For the budding athletes, the St. John’s Lions sports teams involve students from 6th grade in more than 12 sports, with the high school teams consistently well-placed in the International School Sports Tournament (ISSTs) at the end of each season. There are further opportunities for students in Model United Nations (MUN), Model NATO, the International Awards program, maths and science competitions, economics programs, clubs, field trips and so much more. In this way, our students learn to engage, grow, help and serve others.
It would be a pleasure to meet you on campus for a visit in the near future. In the meantime, I invite you to take this website journey of pictures, stories, facts and links. In this way, you will better understand the various components that have given St. John’s the reputation of being one of the premier international schools of Europe.
